I picked up this Jag yesterday and I just want to learn a little more about him. I just want to know what type it is and whether or not you can tell it's sex. TIA!

He's only about 2-2.5" and is already eating feeders half his size!

His feeding habits are normal. What do you mean by "What type is he? " There is just a normal jag, and the "gold jag" which you obviously do not have.
He appears to be a male. Enjoy him

If I were you, I would stop using live feeders. They have almost no nutritional value and depending where you get them may carry parasites. (unless you're raising your own and gut loading) Now is the perfect time to get him acquainted to a good high quality pellet so he can live a long and healthy life. The longer you keep him on live food, the harder it is to break him.

i'll tell you one thing, don't use feeders, can't tell you the sex.

I have all my feeders in a seperate tank which I use to quarantine them and pump them full of color enhancing flakes. Not sure how much the flakes help but the feeders are fed anti bacteria food and my father treats the water.

Which pellets do you prefer to use?

The seperator was used because I had another fish in there at the moment for pictures.

Yea i'd get that little guy off feeders quick.......mine is on Hikari Cichlid Gold and krill.......he even accepts flake sometimes..............

Gonna pick up some New Life today. Seems that all around the board people say it helps the colors alot and get them nice and fat! Just what I like.
