Temensis Coloring

I have a tem that I bought from a store about two months ago at two inches in length.It is now just shy of four inches but it does not show any of the spotting that I have seen on others.Is it still too young to show spots or what,any comments?

well what is the ph at? cichla chow their color with low ph.

The PH is at 6.5 and I cannot get up any pictures at the momment.

hey i have two tems a lil over 4 inches and they just have the stripe. they darken up a lil at feeding but mostly no color yet also

I'm kinda hoping that the spots are age related because I am beginning to think that it may not be a tem at all.The stores around here dont usually get into which types of cichla they have but these were sold as such for a decent enough price.

I can only go by what it was sold as.I figured 8.99 wasnt too bad a risk on it being something else,its coming along nicely but I want to see some spots.

i got two at about 4"

mine are starting to show some red on their fins

and sometimes i swear i start to see some spots comming in around their stripe
