Yesterday i performed a 30% water change and im guessing my water temperature had fallen from 85 degrees to about 78 degrees, cuz the water in all my tanks are usually this warm in the summer because of the summer heat. All my other fish in the tank seem to be fine, but i noticed both my temensis had slowly died! both were about 4-5inches and chowing down on market shrimp. Are pbass usually week to water temperature or what the heck just happened?

although pbass are hardy fish exposure to abrupt and drastic temp change could lead to be fatal. Tem are especially more vulnerable as they need slightly warmer temps then other pbass.

i would have to disagree on this one..... pbass are pbass, meaning they all want/need warm water... also from 85-78 is not drastic!!!

IMO... i dont think it was the temperature drop that killed your tem.... 78degrees is still warm!! also a water change of 30% is a little to much but still okay.... normally a 10-15% change will do... but dont worry i sometimes use to do 50% with no problem...lol,, so ill go about and ask you a couple of questions, if you dont mind?....

when you were doing a water change, was that tem right under the new water that your pouring in,?
cuz i notice my tems loved running water they would always jump @ it.... downfall is, if your using tap the water that they were breating was not cured yet... leading to nitrite,nitrate,ammonia,clorine... etc

how big is your tank?
when performing such a big water change.. you dont want to do a big one because you may lose alot of your good biological in that water.. but it also depends on how big your tanks/tank is..

did you feed them before you did a water change?
dont ever do it because it leads to stress for them or any fish...if so, digesting could of been the problem!! either you feed the day before and then water change... or water change and then feed them!!!

i actually didn't feed any fish that morning because i did a water change.
my tank is a 120gallon and has five red bay snooks, a clown knife, and a fh. only the two temensis were the culprit and it pisses me off. i poured the tap water in the middle of the tank while all the fish were huddled in a corner so it doesnt make sense that the bass would just die and not everything else. the water was also treated after. just doesn't add up in my head.

well what was your params before your water change... & now?

What did they look like when you noticed they were dead?

How long did you watch them to know they slowly died?

I m sorry to hear that
