I just got my first tem last week and he pounds pellets like its his job. I wondering if anyone knew how fast they grow compared to the other cichla species such as orinos and monos. My monos are about 8 inches so hopefully he can catch up quick.

About a half an inch or so more after they reach two years or so they will sprout again at 15'' - 20'' in no time flat. You can pretty much double the rate after 8''.
So basically a rtc dressed up as cichla hahaha. Im glad I bought him last. Its going to be fun to watch the growth. Thanks for the reply.
Dude, they grow daily, and i'm not joking..........Look at my Avator, there were 2 inches in that photo, and there hitting 5+ inches already, and its only been four weeks

I think mine came from the same batch. They came from Shark Aquarium. But I am happy they grow fast. They have some major catching up to do.
where did you get him? i've been looking for more tems. I've only got one left and he's about 20" and 2yrs old I think. His growth rate was fast though. It was definitely noticeable during the growth spurts..
Hahaha yeah I had to pay up with the shipping though. I have wanted one for years so it was worth it.
I just purchased a Tem from shark aquarium yesterday 3"....and two 2" lukani from the LFS....hoping the stay behind my 8" black arrowana's growth rate....they are really beautiful fish...
