Where eva theres Cichla!!!
hey peoples,

I'm just curious, atm my 3 tems are hovering at bout 5" i was wondering if it would be possible to introduce say a 7-10" jardini when my tems are at roughly 12"...i'm really missin my jar and was hoping to get another..
obvisiouly i'll be getn a larger tank within the next 6 months, lookin at roughly 300gal...

Possible at all ?

Well Opiate,
I say NO I have not had any success with jardinis and cichla. The jardini eventually dominates my cichla and start banging the sh!@t out of them. I have tried on 5 different occasions and 5 different jars and cichla and it did not work..... BUT That does not mean it will not work. I have seen some jardinis with cichla doing fine together. A number of times. It really depends on the fish, I guess. If you do, have a standby tank for him just in case he goes loco.:) Sometimes it takes a couple minutes, days and even months.

I have seen it work.... you just need some luck...and hope you pick the right Jardini. you will never know until you try!!!! if it does not work you can allways return it.

I had a 15" jar with (6) 5" pbass with no problem. The jar would show them who was king of the tank, but not even a split fin on any pbass. Try it, you never know. You might get lucky.

i think it would be ok if the bass were bigger then the jar. but i guess that wont last that long. i just had to get rid of my jar, he started bitting my rays.

Hi

Have two Jars (about 4-5inches each) with about 6 Pbass (5-6.5inches) with some birchers, a large suncat, Wolf fish, and Orange pike. They have been together for about 3 months now. I have a 3rd Jardini, that was in with them but didn't grow as quick as the other two so, he was moved to another tank so I can put some size on him and put him back. They are fed only once a day with pellets and occassionally market shrimp, so I can slow their growth down, since they are only in my 180gal grow out. I'll probably keep 1 or 2 of the nicer looking Pbass, possibly move it to my 300gal, and see how long I can keep the Jars together, I'll remove the Jars if I start seeing problems. If I ever get a 10x4x2.5h tank I might keep more of the fish.
