on an icecube.....
whent to the LFS yesterday and they had a nice looking 12-15" TSN for only 30$ so i put a deposit on him and am going back on monday to pick up him and a 130g iam going to put him in the 130 when we move(or just get a pond for him and my RTC)but iam not sure ware i can house him now other than 30g if i just buy a large tub from home depo can i keep him there even though it isent cycled?

you should just make a 4x8ft pond or tank. it would be cheaper and best value for a pond it should cost you less than $300 dollars to built and have a pond liner and filter.(if you use less 2x4's and ply wood) Rember to brace the bottom with wood, it has to be 2feet apart. (the walls and the flooring.) than cover it up with ply wood than put in liner (option; if you want to protect your liner from wearing down cover up hard sharp edges of wood or metal.)

well iam going to get to biuld a pond when i move its just iam not sure what to house him in til then, i think i may just buy a 50g tub from wallmart for now...

50 gallons is not enough for a 12-15" TSN

Home depot have a 20 gallon tube that is about 3 ft in diameter but only 15" tall. He should be fine in there for a little bit

How long are you planning to keep him in a tub for ?

thanks i will look in home depo for that tub, the most i would be keeping him in it would be 2 months sence we should be moved and then i can buy or make a big pond, but iam mostley worried becuase the tub isent cycled if i just do a WC every other day will he be ok?

I have to do that with my red tail cat before. Put him in a tub, get a small canister filter and just keep him there while he's in there. I use the tub now for emergency or quarantine.

Do 10% water change twice a week and you'll be okay. They need room to move on the bottom, they can careless about height

ok thanks i will probaly go with the tub then:) i was going to use a pond pump and just pump water up into a 5g bucket full of quilting batten and pot scrubbies for filteration but the pump is in my with my ick covered loaches is there anyway of cleaning to make sure it it safe for the TSN?(the LAST thing i whant is for it to get ick!)

thanks for all the help
