I have a commercial 75g fish tank that came with 30g sump, chiller, UV sterilizer and a massive pump.

Just recently found out the chiller is not working...and I am presuming to why the temp became so high...85-86 degrees :nilly:. It was on, but it not creating cold water. Customer support think that's why temp is going up.

Anyhoo, how do I lower the temp to a more stable 80 degrees? Thankfully, I live in Florida, the tank is in my bedroom and the AC is on 365 days a year.
In fact, it was 85 degrees outside today.... :headbang2
Also, would the UV sterilizer be the cause for the increased temp?

Ive used to have a 30g in the same room, and without a heater it used to be much lower, around 76-78. So, I am not sure whats up.

Any advice would be most appreciated...

Turn the UV off and see?

Also aim a power head towards the surface to break up the surface, that will increase evaporation. Dropped my tank by about 2 degrees just doing that.

Is your tank in the sun for even part of the day?

Is there a heater in the tank?

The pump and UV are the cause, if you don't have a heater. Also, if the chiller isn't chilling, it may heat the water too. I don't know anything about them though.

Dont have a heater... I unplugged both now broken chiller and UV sterilizer just in case...

No sun exposure at all...

If indeed is the pump/uv sterilizer creating all the heat, then what are my options? I thought most people here didnt have chillers to begin with. I've called the company and it is something crazy like $400 for a new chiller WITHOUT installation. Yeah...considering I paid $150 for the whole set up...

The tank was supposedly used to house lobsters at a restaurant which was why the chiller was needed for lower temperature. However, since I am now keeping freshwater, i thought of it just as an extra item with no use.
