Are captive-bred Male jags like the ones I see in some lfs and petsmart, aggressive in temperament? Or are they only found in wild specimens? Do all of them come out of their shell sooner or later, or are some just passive? Same question for a Male texas cichlid. Thanks!

yes captive breed jags are mean every 1 i have xp with is captive breed and aggresion has to do with its enviroment most of the time.for example if it was by itself in a tank most of its life and introduced to a community tank it would probable mind its own buissnes.if raised with other cichlids it will try to be the dominant fish in the tank it will fight everybody the same for texas.

I think you got it the other way around. Fish raised with other fish are going to be a little more passive and accept other fish easier because they are used to sharing thier territory. If a fish is raised solitarily then they are used to having the territory all to them selves. Another fish comes in and its toast. I think that wild caught fish are more agressive. I have a wild caught port acara and he is one nasty boy. I have never heard of acaras being mean.

I have wild caught Texas cichlids, they will kill tank raised Texas cichlids everytime

To survive in the wild, fish have to defend their terretory. So, if its big and alive, it has fighting experience, and is more capable. More agressive? That depends.

Is there any difference in temperament between Carpintis and Cyanaguttatum texas cichlids? Possibly one more aggressive than the other based on personal experience?
