So when it comes to watts/gal...how does it work for reptiles? Does it depend on what reptile or is it a universal thing?

depends on alot of factors.. cage size, cage setup, cage material, the kind of light being used, type of herp being kept.. it varies from cage to cage, and speices to speices.
