Ok, I had a super crap 2 weeks as ambient room temperatures + heater set on 29 degrees celcius put the tank up to 33 dg C and I lost 2 good sized dels

I have managed to drop the temp down to 29dgC/84.9f, is this going to be ok? I am getting paranoid about this! Only the dels seem to be affected, the sens are fine?

My only delhezi now also has about 4 pimple looking spots on its belly? Any ideas? No other fish have them in the tank?

Thanks :(

I'm sorry for your loss. 29C should be fine, but I have no idea about the pimple looking things. I don't think the temperature alone would have killed the dels because I had a few days of extreme heat and my water temp was about 34C. They are pretty tough fish and as long as they have access to atmospheric oxygen the temps you experienced should be tolerated.

Yeah, I run a sump on the tank which creates heaps of bubbles, there are a few plants in there. I change the water (1/3) once or twice a week too.

Sounds like some type on bacterial infection. Never had this on mine. Do you use salt in your tank? It may help aid in healing. I have used melafix and pimafix in the past with good results also.

most air breathing fish react poorly to melafix and pimafix. i would use a broad spectrum antibiotic and salt instead of melafix

I keep all my bichirs between 80-85f to encourage fast growth.i also feed heavy and do 2-4 30% water changes a week

Why wouldn't the bichirs respond well to the melafix? My friend has added a lot of salt to the tank it is being held in, it is well aerated and has an auto-water changer system on it, hopefully it can recover. If it is a bacterial issue will the salts be enough to fix it?

The delhezi was acting a bit lethargic, usually when it goes up for air it does it fairly swiftly, at the moment it is showing hesitation to take a gulp of o2 and kind of floats/cruises midwater/top and bottom?

I'm lost as to what is wrong; senegals, jardini, feifeng, sharks are all fine???

I keep mine at 26-28. They are loving it!
