Howdy Folks, Ive searched before I posted to no avail...What is the preferable temp for raising frys? Is 80 too low is 85 too high...from YOUR experience. Thanx

I currently have a batch of fry (on accident) from my OB Peacocks. Their temp ranges from 77 - 80 F. They seem to be doing just fine, but I too would like to know the experience of others.

I have always kept mine at 80F. That is for Dovii and Jags and I would do the same for most species of Cichlids. Are you looking for good growth rates? What species? To get the best growth water changes are the best bet.

my convict tank never had a heater on it. about 72-74*

the fry seemed to do fine but ive never fully grew the fry out before i went to saltwater with that tank.

with that being said, i think warmer temps would yeild better results tho.

i breed jags and and flowerhorns and convicts all fry are always kept around 82-84 i keep them warmer here
for higher metabolisms and feed very high protein foods, i always end up with higher average in warmer water

Hmm Thanx everyone,

Okay that sounds good, thats where I have mine set at. Since theyre small I rather have warmer water in hopes of keeping "problems" out.

I currently have about 20 Sunshine Peacocks almost an inch long.....Temp of the tank is 80.....Their doing really well at that temp....
