Hi! I was wondering what's the optimal, minimal and maximal temperature a SAL can stand. Cold days began over here and I've noticed my SAL has been quite inactive these last days. I checked the temp and it's 17ºC, and I don't think that can be good for hi, given they come from a subtropical region.
Should I rise the temp? Can he die if he stays like that?

I hope you can give me some advice!

Thanks!

Thats roughly like 62 degrees F
should you raise the temp.? I would to at least 24C-27C-Anne

I keep mine from 75 degrees F to 82 degrees F top..

Hi! I don't have a water heater (or whatever it's called), so I added a bit of warm water, put on the stove in my room to the maximum, and made sure sunlight hit the tank at midday. I was able to rise the temp 7ºC (40something ºF?), and now Flipper is moving and eating again. :) He was quite hungry, as he hadn't eat because he moved too littile due to the cold water.

Thanks for your answers!!!

Get a heater....(just my 2 cents).....try to keep it a a minimum of 24ºC

adding a bit of warm water from the stove does not work...if the water is to cold you better not feed it...it can get digestion issues...adding warm water wil only bring the temp up for about a few minutes...and the warm / hot water (from the stove) can seriously burn your fish.

p.s.
