temperature question

my heater is set on 80 degrees and my thermometer reads 86?? is this normal or is one of the two off?

i have an acrylic tank btw, i know it holds heat better but increasing it?

I have the opposite problem where my Thermometer is lower then the set temperature. I don't worry about too much. As long as my fish aren't acting differently, then there's nothing to worry about

All of my heaters are off I think, lol. One is so off that I have to put it on 86 just to get it at 80. And then the oscar tank is set at 78, but usually reads 84(have tested with 3 thermometers).

Agree with benzjamin, as long as they aren't acting weird it shouldn't matter.
