Thinking of adding my Uruguay to a 100g stock tank in the garage. Its not too bad out there ~50 degrees and I can add a heater for the winter and set it at 65 or so and it wouldnt take too much power. I am wanting to know how to spring and summer temps will affect them. The temp can vary 10-15 degrees overnight. The water temp would obviously change a bit every single day. Most often times people would say this would stress the fish, however these are not tropicals afterall.

I just picked up some Gymnogeos and from the research I've done, they will spawn like crazy after their winter period. Usually 3-4 months with high 50's, low 60's temperatures.

Fish, especially from Southern Uruguay, will do just fine in that. Look at Felipe's site to see which ones are from the south.

You don't, however, want to drop them into 50 degree water from LFS or indoor temps. They won't eat much at the lower temps.

When the water heats up to the mid to upper 60s, the breeding will begin.
