Somewhere in S'pore
My LFS has some shortnose gars about 5'' long. I live in Singapore, where even tap water is already 29 degrees Celsius! So my tank water is around 27-29 degrees Celsius. Will a shortnose gar die when kept in this high-temperature water? They look healthy at the LFS though. Any input?

Hi welcome fellow singaporean brudder... :)

27 to 29 deg is really ok for the gar. You do not have to worry on that.

I am keeping a cuban gar with a 32 deg temp. tank..it is doing way too fine.

:grinno:

Anyway, let me know if you wan our MFK.com bracelet. You can PM me.

I think it's easier to keep cooler water warm cause you can just throw in a heater. It would be more tricky to try and keep warm water cool. However if the ambient temperature outside the tank is a cooler, than it should stabilize if you can drop the temp for a bit with ice or something.

its fine.

damn gar keeper. got me to comment on an old thread again.
