I know you cant drill it, but is it possible to cut it?

Planning on glueing together a tank from spare glass pieces from sliding glass doors.

No, unfortunately not.

Dan is right. You can't cut or drill tempered glass.

Hello; This is corect. I tried it once. I had a pane from a sliding door. I tried to cut it into smaller pieces. At first I was able to make a scratched line on the surface. When it let go the entire panel shattered. Not quite all at once as the small pieces continued to crackle into even smaller pieces, eventually into many thousands of pea sized bits of glass. Also it was quite loud when it first let go. Took quite a while to clean up all the bits.
Whatever size you have is what you must use. Because of the way it shatters it would be a sudden and total loss of water if used for an aquarium. I have had plate glass crack from top to bottom of a 125 gallon tank. I still was able to save a few fish and most of the plants. With tempered glass it would all be on the floor in seconds.

If you can use it, pad the edges well. It is my understanding that it is very break resistant but that the edges are the most vulnerable. At least I was working at an edge when my pane let go. I have three more panes in storage hoping to someday find a use for them as they are.

Good luck
