in tank build do you use tempered glass or just regular plate glass i am planning a 240 build and half inch glass just need to know what kind to buy got all the ply wood and 2x material i build houses

I would not use tempered glass when it breaks it breaks in to a million peaces where plate glass will crack given you some time to save the fish

It depends. If you don't plan to drill it, it could be tempered. Otherwise you'd have to drill it before tempering. Tempering does increase strength dramatically, but 1/2" glass is plenty strong enough for a 240g. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's what's used in an All-Glass tank; only the bottom is tempered.

Tempering is not necessary. I would go plate glass all the way.
