My main tank is a 60 gallon tank with a HOB filter, heater, and an a bubbler. In it I keep 5 Taiwan reef cichlids and a gold nugget pleco. The gold nugget has been fin nipped pretty bad and it's not willing to leave its hiding spot even to eat algae wafers. So I put my pleco in a 2.5 gallon tank which I keep a betta in. I changed the water out with the water from my main tank and put the bubbler and a divider in the pleco has 2/3 of the tank. But other than that it has no other filtration and the heater is way to big to put in there. Is this setup going to last long enough for him to heal? I can change the water out every few days easy enough.

i wouldnt.. do it but i guess you could..

you would be better off picking up a rubber maid tub at homedepot/lowes/target/walmart for like $10 and putting a heater in there... you can make a very simply bubble filter out of a waterbottle and a bit of media from the main tank if you dont have another one..

I think you are right I just checked the water it way too cold for him so I put him back in the larger tank and gave him a hiding spot that the other fish can't get too. I just hope he's eating because I never see him eat. He hasn't grown at all since I got him either. :(

I ended up making an in tank refrigium. I just went and bought a ziploc tupperware heated up a fork and poked holes in it to allow for circulation then set it under the water coming out of my filter. Now I dont need to mess with an extra tank heater or filter.
