NorCal
Alright guys its summer!!! Its been 95-102 degrees this past few days in NorCal. I have my tank in the garage. And the water has come up to 85-90 degrees. Now should i worry? Or just leave it? I mean, im getting super worried with the water temp going up so high... Can it be able to boil my fishes alive? I was thinking of putting some ice cub in the tank to cool it off but that just sounds funny. Anyone know any tips to cool down temperatures? Agghhh someone wanna help? :nilly:

The fishes i have are:
1 NTT dat
1 AT dat
1 CK
1 Silver Arow

is your tank open or closed? if you go with an open tank, you can use fans blowing over the top of the tank to lower the temps, maybe as much as 5 degrees or more

if you want to cover an "open" tank, you can use light-diffusing ceiling panels - - cut to fit - - that you can get at Loews or Home Depot . . . they have an open grid structure that allows evaporation, which will help cool the temps

As long as you have enough surface agitation you will be fine. Your fish should be in water around the mid-high 80's anyways. It will cool off at night. Plus it really isn't getting that warm in the garage as there is no sunlight hitting the tank.
