Hey MFK girls and gals,

I recently purchased 2 Temensis peacock bass from Monster (NYC) around 8-9 inches long and put them into my 180g tank. As you can see in the second photo, the two Tems co-exist with an ocellaris (that i've had since 5inches), a red mammon, and 3 bichirs.

1) How quickly do Tems grow? Are they generally more aggresive than other peacock bass? Im planning on trading them in when they get too big (1 foot +)
2) Also, I noticed that tems seem to be skinny and long rather than short and thick like my ocelarris. Is that just how tems are suppose to look?

Tems are the fastest growing and largest growing species of peacock bass. When they are on a growth spurt and are feed properly they can easily grow more than 1-1.5" per month. They will thicken up for you but tems naturally have a longer build compared to ocells...ocells get thick and stocky.

tems can grow to be 3 feet long haha ... keep posting pics here as they grow up, would love to see the development

ps i was actually looking at these guys at monster just a week ago, beautiful fish

haha will do ! so far im feeding them market shrimp and they love it, but they wont take pellets. My ocel loves pellets. I was hoping the tems would learn from my ocel but unfrotunately so far its not working. John gave me a nice discount for buying 2 :]

Keep offering only pellets. I got a couple of the tems from there and it didn't take more than a week for the newest one to start eating pellets. It'll watch the other bass feed and eventually give it a try.

Take it this way...if you have other species of bass all together at the same size and you offered them the same a mount of food. Tems will grow much faster and bigger than other bass. They are nice but to fast of growing and too big.

good news, a few days ago they accepted pellets. And now, they're all SMASHING pellets like crazy.
