What is the best way to cure if any on my babies Ive had these kids for a long time anybody had the same experience...I have seen some on fish 5-6 years old that still live...what meds have you used...I will be making them a diet I have been feeding mostly market shrimp lately...they are in a 340 gallon with a huge-wet-dry, ia have an ozone but the bulb needs to be replaced ...I dont know if Ozone helps HITH anyway

constant massive water changes seem to be the only cure for HITH disease imho. 50% a week until cured....

HITH is a weird thing. I've had the same species fish, in the same tank, eating the same food and one fish will develop HITH and the other will not.

Out of curiosity, the fish that is showing signs of HITH, is it one of the more dominant fish?

Regarding the water change thing... I've got my tank hooked up to a drip system that changes out over 100% of the tank's volume on a daily basis and I've still had fish develop HITH. Water chanes certainly can't hurt but I don't think they necessarily help either.

Both fish have it in the bottom photo.

Hi Scat, is your water changing system running thru a R/O unit or some type of chemical filtration?

Thanks for the info Iam gonna get some type of Metronidazloe and make some meal cubes with chicken, beef, prawns, geleten , garlic, crushed centrum and see if that helps...yes the dominat one has it I got them at the same time and he is also the bigger one.../??thats strange...I would be very upset if I lost my fish to this stuff I only have two in the big tank//??

I think stress has more to do with HITH than any other factor. Obviously poor diet, poor water quality, poor conditions, too small a tank, etc. could all be stressful but I've been noticing both through personal experience and speaking with others that in many cases it is the largest, most dominant fish that develops HITH first or in many cases is the only fish that gets it.
