Today I made my bi-annual trip to the Tennessee Aquarium and this time I took my camera to take some pics of their Lake Nicaragua tank and other tanks for you guys. They have 2-3 large male dovii's around 15-18" each, some massive 14-15" or so black belts, some 12-15" jaguars, and some nice Midas. The spotlight of the tank was a breeding pair of dovii with free swimming fry. The female was at least 1/2 the size of the mail.

This was the dovii pair. The fry are not very visible in the pic.

The male guarding the fry had some issues with the other large male.

The tank had a few large jaguars that were guarding pits. I could not see any fry and they were guarding the pics solo for some reason.

The tank has some very nice, large midas as well.

Here are some pics of the tank overall.

The blackbelts were also very impressive. I would guess the male of the pair in the pics was 14"-15" or so.

They also had a pair of what I think are freddies. Correct me if I am wrong.

They also had an Amazon tank with some 12-15" peacock bass.

that place is awesome, those aren't freddies they are loisellis

Very beautiful pictures! I think the three males are the highlight of this tank.

TN Chattanooga aquarium is one of the reasons why I miss Tennessee so much! I too used to visit this aquarium often, and I would have to say, it was majorly due to this exhibit -- it has got to be a dream tank for any cichlid fan.

This was also where I first saw sequentially polygamous dovii behavior -- a male having broods with more than one female at the same time. Did you see that too?

Very nice pics again:)

No. I only saw one female with the large male yesterday. I have a friend that works there and I am going to see if I can get some of the dovii fry. Probably not but I am going to ask.

that tank is sick.

Thank you for the pictures, very inspriational.
