ok so as the title states i had a massive termite invasion dismorning somewere between 10 and 230.... i have been battling them for about 2 hours now spraying them and vacuuming them i mean like thousands of them... i have a couple questions

1. best way to rid of them completly
2. was it an ivasion from an outside source or were they already present and just all emerged trying to expand their perimeters
3.could filter leak have cause them to come in? id say probably 20 gallons of water leaked out of my 220 thro my fx5 and it went all in the carpet

thanks and if there are any other questions ask me and ill fill in

4. will these just cause a tasty snack for my fish or are they harmful to them i have noticed a bunch fly directly into my fish tank

chances are, your house already had termites, and something happened that made them come out of the woodwork. think of this as a mix blessing, and get an exterminator asap

If you have termites then you need to call a professional to rid your home of them. Its not an invasion. If you have thousands then you have an established colony living in your home and eating the wood. Seek professional help. Termites cause more damage annually to property structures than natural disasters.

See thats why termites are so damaging. You don't notice them until they have caused major damage. Prevention is key.

Agreed..They live underground and travel into homes through tunnels that they dig through your wood, sometimes you can spot the tunnels on the outside surface of wood joists and such...What you saw earlier was a bunch of adults who have matured and are ready to set out and start their own colonies.

ok so i called a terminator they came out and gave us and estiment of $1500 :O is that about right? and is there any alternatives that you guys found like a DYI version of what they basicaly do to kill them?

Sounds about normal.A company here (Terminix)offers a payment plan for the service and they come out and inspect your place periodically.Go to HomeDepot in the bug sray section and they have a kit that you can try.
