Red wood city
Hello, i just picked up a couple terracota pots to make caves for my fish because i ve heard of people using this method. My question is what do i have to do to make the pots safe for the aquarium and the pots wont harm the inhabitants in any way? Thank you.

You can boil them to be safe, but I usually just put them right in the tank (if they're new)

Boiling may not be a bad idea, althugh quite an overkill IMO. Just rinsing the dust off of them in hot water should suffice

Personally, I soak them for about 24 hours. Then, take them out, place them open end down on a work bench and use a *small* hammer to knock the bottom out. You don't have to hack at them like your chopping wood, just tap-tap-tap taking bites out.
