Can you Folks tell me some things you do to prep the pots
before you submerge them and also what are some different
types of cutters you are using to make bigger holes or whatever

Pressure wash with garden hose, give it a good scrub, and if you're still uptight about it then dip it in boiling hot water. As cutters you can get them from Home Depot. Be sure to wear safety glass when cutting.

I also hose it down and just dump it in. As far as making the hole bigger, I use a hammer and bash the rim. Its not pretty but it never shatters like you would think. it just leaves a rectangle door way every time. heres one that my flowerhorn uses.

Always buy new pots and never use ones that have had earth and plants in them as terracota is very porus and could hold on to nastys.

I leave them outside in the rain for a few weeks.Then cut holes in them with a dremel
