I found a large terrarium and i was wanting to use it for one of my bettas. I'm wanting to take the mirror off the back of the glass and i've come to the conclusion that I'm not gonna be able to take the mirror off. So, I was thinking about painting it or finding a good background to put on it. So, in short I want to cover the mirror with either fish safe background that will be in the tank or some kind of fish safe paint. Does anyone have any ideas???

Thanx, Sanya

Wow i figured i would have gotten some reply by now.

Howdy,

I've never used paint inside my tanks, but I moved your thread to DIY to improve chances for answers. It's morning, and it's a work day. Be patient ;)

Thanx man i really appreciate an honest answer. It seems like the only people that will give someone an honest answer is the moderators. If you can't tell i've been having some problems. I heard of this stuff called prolate or something. It's supposedly safe for drinking water.

kissme,

Is the mirror glued on? Have you tried removing it with a razor blade (careful!!! Use pliers to hold it). I think our members are all very helpful, each in his or her own way. Some are very blunt, but that should not discourage you :) You gotta be cool about it and enjoy MFK for its diversity. Many people with many levels and fields of expertise. What, have people been giving you a hard time? Strange. If you want a terrarium, I would just build a background out of silicone and great stuff(expanding foam). Then just cover it with coco husk. I would explain the whole process but it would be a whole page. So how about I just give you a link. I have done this several times and the results have been great every time. You can vary the amount of water at the bottom of the tank for fish or what ever you put in there. I'd check out the rest of the site when your there, its a really cool site. I hope you like.

The web address isn't working. Maybe it's just my comp. I'll try again later. But thanks for the info i never would have thought of that.

It's metal plated with silver, copper, and tin and it won't come off with a razor blade that was the first thing i tried.

hello ;]
well they paint all tank decorations and ornaments with paint that seems pretty fish safe, Ive had a goldfish for five years so far and hes been in several different tank set ups with long and short term painted items from the fish department of petco, petsmart, or wherever,,,,, my point is I will look around, but there IS fish safe paint..... And hopefully its easier to find than southdown.. cuz,, theres none of that left on the planet ;[
