Do plecos become territorial? I have a plain ol' pleco, he's about 7" or so. He was fine up until about 2 weeks ago. I had him in my 34 gal with 2 medium angels, 1 peacock eel and 1 medium ABK. It was like someone flipped a switch. The pleco would hang out in the back of the tank behind my driftwood, minding his own business. The knife would hide in a big conch, minding his business. Then the pleco suddenly decided to move into the conch. I rearranged the tank to try and make new hiding spots for the pleco. The pleco moved out and then FORCEFULLY shoved its way back into the seashell and my knife came flying out. Does anyone else see their pleco getting aggressive towards other fish? My water params are safe, diets are good, plenty of hiding spots....?

Yeah Some do. I had one that Chased everything around that went in his corner.. It was pretty funny

Well this wasn't very funny. My knife fish scratched up and now has a slightly damaged eye from the ordeal.

I've got a tank full of them, all share ok but they all have there own area

I had a very aggressive adonis pleco... he would bully my dats and even eat feeders....

plecos do get aggressive. Only have problem with common pleco,, it gets into fights with my african cichlids, my cats...funny 2 c thoe

hyps can get extremely violent
If they want a cave even if their 10 inches smaller than the other fish they will try to take it. My 3cm L333's bully the 3 inch corys. One of the corys gets in their way they like head but it and latch on like a leech. The corys don't know what the hell to do. They just scurry off. So far no real damage to either the corys or the plecos. When they want some that fish better not be in the way.

Yes some of the pseudocanthicas species can become very territorial and aggressive. Like L-114 or an L--113 (gigas). my local fishstore has a 12 inch gigas that tore the shibby out of a 14 inch red devil.
