Interesting read especially the conclusion they come to,
The basics of what they were trying to find out was at what point does a convict cichlid growth get slowed down by trying to defend too large of a territory and what was the optimal size territory to have enough food with out using too much energy to defend it.
One of there points raised was the stress on dominant fish by intruders caused much slower growth.

I agree, that was really interesting. Convicts can be relentless defending a territory that's for sure.
