ok first i went to petsmart and saw green terrors and looked them up and found there are alot of fish sold as this so which would be the most likely to be sold as a green terror for like $5 would it be that golden saum or something like that (no idea how to spell it)also i heard about red terrors and was woundering if a red terror could live in a 60 gallon tank and how big thay get and which fish look the best out of them all

75g might be better for these guys. Krill, shrimp, plankton would get some good color out of them.

i'd say a 100-125.. males are said to get 20" but i've never seen them that big and i doubt anyone here has seen them pass 14".... females 12"

The original "Green Terror" isnt commonly sold in the US. The fish you saw is the "False Green Terror". Most people that say they have a Green Terror have the False GT. They look almost identical.

The Red Terror you saw is probably a "Cichlasoma' uropthalmus" or "False Red Terror". A True Red Terror is called "Amphilophus festae"

All of these Terrors get around 12-14" and sometimes as big as 16". IMO the festae is the most aggressive and best looking of all of them. I'd keep them alone or maybe a breeding pair in a 75g tank as a minimum.

Yes, they are gold saums. Here'y my petsmart gold saum:

ok looks like the false green terror looks better than a true one and is alot cheaper, in a 125 would a red terror be able to have tank mates if not i think i want a breeding pair and do you have any advice on how a get a pair

Like anything else, it depends on the fish. They're fairly aggressive, but generally not out and out killers. Mine is almost the same size as my severum (six inches or so), and the sev is definitely in charge.
