test kit question

I have a high quality test kit for s/w it says its calibrated for s/w
my question is will it have the same results when used on f/w
because my f/w test kit says it can be used for both however the salt dosnt i would like to use up the other kit dont keep s/w anymore is there any thing usable in it
i tryed a comparsion there was a slight difference in readings but that could be because of the quality difference

Howdy,

good question. Many analytical tests are susceptible to other ions, which can cause false readings. My suggestion would be to run the water tests in parallel with both kits for a few weeks and see if the readings are similar. Or send an e-mail to the manufacturer. They should know for sure, since they know what's in those kits...

I have a Nitrate test kit for fresh and salt water, but it has a different color chart for each.
