so, been out of the aquarium game a while, but back in with a splash.
been cycling a 180 gallon aquarium now for 2 weeks. ive been testing for ammonia every day, with 0 for the entire time.
today just for fun i figure ide test for nitrates and nitrites (api 5 in 1), and got a reading of 3 ppm nitrite, and 40 ppm nitrate.
2 questions.
1. i had one of the filters (eheim 2217 with ceramic rings and crushed coral) on the 180 seeding (no media exchanged just plugged in and ran) in a 20 gallon com tank for about a week and a half, would this be enough to jump start the cycle to already have nitrites and no ammonia?
2. if i proceed with a water change what would i be looking for test wise?
oh forgot to add im cycling with 20 rosies
i also have not performed a water change as of yet.
any help would be appreciated. im sure im doing something wrong.
