So has anyone out there used the API test strips?

I usually pay the $30 for the API test kits with the chemical tests but the test strips are half the price. So if anyone out there as some input please fill me in.

I am also wondering if anybody else has to sign back in to MFK after they change a page? Or is that just MFK telling me I need to be on the forum more often?

It's half the price, and you get 25 strips. The liquid test kit is good for approximately 40985036 tests, so you're not saving anything.

Good point I did not look at it from that aspect. Thanx.

And each test uses a different amount of drops. So you run out of some long before the others...

PH kit uses only 3 drops per test, it will last a very long time.

Nitrite uses only 5 drops per test, it will also last a long time.

Ammonia (2 bottles) uses 8 drops from each bottle, it lasts a while but you'll run out of this long before either of the above.

Nitrate (2 bottles) uses 10 drops from each bottle, you'll use this up the fastest.

This is an API kit, others may vary.

My point is you can just buy the single test you need, I've gotten a single Ammonia test and single Nitrate test because I ran out of those first but still have the others left. No sense buying the entire kit each time.

Always was told by trusted LFS that the strips were inaccurate- even tho they sold them. ???
