Would it be possible to test tube breed some fish? Both those that are hard to breed as well as interbreeding to make hybrids. Like breeding an Endli with an Ornate or senegal. Just wondering if anyone has thought about this...
I've given this some though as well. You'd need a fair amount of equipment, biological know-how, and I'm certain that most of us layfolk would lose two fish in the process. That would entail withdrawl from the living fish though, but would provide flexibility not provided by living fish behavior.
I'm no pro however, and my biology knowledge is nowhere close to complete.
something like take a female convict and squeeze the eggs into a test tube... then smoosh chinook salmon goo in there and make 40 pound cons... if you figure out a way i say go for it!
well i'm a biology major right now in school and i figure that one day i will try this in my fish room. Maybe on my endli (Female) and one of my male sens. I feel that yes there would be damage/stress to the fish or clove oil could be used to sedate them. but as far as Bichirs go i feel i could create some real monsters in the name of science. As well as make some money lol
well ideally u'd jsut mix the eggs and sperm together and in a tube and then toss them into a baby tank and watch them grow. But i could come down to an electron microscope and inspecting the egss to see that they have been fertilized. Yeah i know a little too much lol
