I've purchased the following meds and water conditioners from drsfostersmith.com and was hoping to get some feedback on weather they are good products or not. they should arrive in a few days time but any feedback would be stellar:)

So it goes like this:
Kordon Amquel Plus +
(for ammonia,nitrates, nitrites , chlorine,chloramine)
Seachem Acid/ Alkaline Buffer
(wondering if microbe lift 6.5 is better and plant friendly?)
Jungle Labs Parasite Clear 100 PK tablets

Jungle labs anti parasit fish food

Jungle labs anti bacterial fish food

Seachem Flourish

Seachem Flourish Excel

Seachem Flourish Iron

Kordon Ich Attack

Nutrafin Waste Control

Eheim Sludge Extractor
---------------------------------------

side question -- when do i turn on my UV sterlizer if used in conjuction with bacterial additives? and how long do i keep it on for?

Amquel+ made my fish "itch" I think it was the synthetic slime coat. Also, if nitrite, nitrate and ammonia are not an issue then why treat for it every water change? Just more chemicals in the tank, IMHO. Ich Attack is borderline devine intervention, miracle magic!!!! It does, however, have quite an unholy stench!! Parasite Clear works well, but it will change the color of the water. ( I guess ich attack does too). The Eheim sludge extractor works awesome and I wish I had one! Just dont plan on using it to clean a whole tank, its just made for quike cleanups.

As for the UV...Leave it on always. I have heard people say turn it off during meds but I dont see the point unless the meds are UV intolerant. The UV only benefits the aquarium if it stays on. The bacterial additives are designed to "attach" to the filter media and therefor wont be "free" floating. I might turn the UV off during the doseing but I wouldnt add the additive directly to the aquarium unless you are trying to colonize the substrate. I have experienced the best results with bac. additives when I run the filter circulating a small amount of water like in a bucket or small bare aquarium. Waste not want not right? This is just my opinion and please dont think I'm preaching.

thanks for the feed dude! so add Bac. adds directly to the filter huh? never thought of that. and interesting trick with the bucket i'll keep it in mind. what do you mean when you say your fish "itch"?

any other people can vouch for any products on the list? or suggest ones that they've found effective? I'm particularly curious about how good Nutrafin waste control is.

They "itch" and then dive into the rocks or substrate scraping their sides like they are trying to get somthing off of them. Sometimes if your fish get a parasite or a loose scale from a fight they will try to get it off. I have seen my fish do this in the past occassionaly but after I started using Amquel+ they all were doing it like none-stop and after ripping my hair out trying to figure it out I made the connection and stopped using it......back to normal.
