Hi all,

I've been out of the game for a while but after finding a nice little 29 gal on the sidewalk I decided to rescue it and start a new tank. It was filled with sawdust when i got it so I think the previous owner was using it for a hamster or something. I brought it up to my roof and filled it with water and everything seems good so far but im skeptical about putting it in my apartment until I know for sure it is stable. How long do you guys think I should wait before setting it up for real. Is filling it with water and seeing no leaks good enough, or should I wait a while and make sure the thing doesnt just crumble in my apartment? or Am i just being paranoid? BTW the glass is not very thick and there is no support beam going across the top so that is why i feel like I need to be more cautious. Any advice would help. Thanks

If the glass is really thin, then it's probably a tank for reptiles and such, and is not meant to be a fish tank or filled with water.

Standard 29 gallons dont have a cross brace .If it doesnt leak in a few hrs its probably good if you are very paranoid give it a few days. Also the glass on many newer 29 gallons like those at Petco dont have very thick glass because its only 29 gallons so bowing is not a big issue.

If it's not leaking by now, then it should be fine! Congrat on finding your new 29g tank for free.
