Testing Ph vs High Ph

When I test my aquarium water for regular Ph it comes out to 7.6, but when I test for high Ph it comes out to 8.0, when I test my tap water it comes out the same.

Which do I test with? Who do I believe?

If you got the API test kit I believe the PH maxes at 7.6. So if your PH is higher it will still read 7.6. I would believe your high range PH test results.
 
Yes sir Mr. Bat poop it is the API test kit. Thanks for clearing that up. For some reason I was thinking I had a faulty product but it was just the user.

assuming you test kit is not expired and working properly, i agree with these guys. Sometimes I'm paranoid and i make samples of test water to do an experiment with the regular range pH test and High pH test using pH down or Up, neutral regulator to compare the results with the chart.
