i bought a tetra whisper air pump 100, i was wondering if it would be ok for two 4x4x4 sponge filters?? i aslo have a 32 deep tank if that counts for something. thanks

I'm no expert on air pumps as to if they will function at a certain dept. But best I could say is try it and see. Worst you would have to do is get 2 air pumps.
if one side of the air pump will pump enough to use a sponge filter then the other side will also. I have an air pump here that i just had to rebuild. It also had dual outs on it. The air outputs are totally separate mechanisms from each other.
I just did a quick search on that air pump. Says it is rated for [FONT=arial, helvetica]up to 100 gallons. So I dont see why it wouldnt work.

i wonder how can you really check if your sponge filter is really sucking debris in?? its really hard to see from the outside, im even having problems with canister filters unless i place my finger right on the inputs mouth.
i would go with a power heads to be sure, but i need really calm water current. is there a air pump most fish hobbist use for maximum filter for thier sponge filters??

to check you sponge filter is working is by all the crap that is building up on the sponge. Power head is your best bet.
