so frustrating my older discus will eat the color bits but the two little cobalts will just spit it out, do I starve them, their like 1"-1.5", dont wanna risk stunting them, all i have fed them is bloodworms and earth worms,

Don't starve little ones. In my experience, little fish eat flakes much better than granules.

^ Agreed. Get them either a good color flake or a discus/angelfish flake.

WRONG you need to make them hungry so they can eat, and give them small amount for first time you feed them with new food

Fasting the young ones? That's just going to help stunt them IMO. You could add garlic on the food to entice them to eat but some companies such as Hikari and NLS add garlic on their products.

no no don't starve the little ones. give them flake food, and ocean nutrition discus formula.

Yeah, if you start fasting little ones, you are asking for stunted discus. Small discus grow best with at least 3 feedings per day as a minimum. More than that is preferred. I often feed very young discus small amounts every 3 hours with an automatic feeder.

Make up a beefheart mix and add plenty of garlic. Your fish will grow much faster. At 1-1.5'' feed at least four times daily

Go to angels plus website. Get there 3 medicated foods to have on hand in case of any problems or to have for maintainance to ward off the bugs. Its much easier to have a flake on hand than it is to treat the enitre water colum. They have very good flake for cheap. I also would make your own beef heart mix. Go to simplydiscus and go to foods and nutrition. You will find many different mixes to choose from. I cant get beef heart where I live so I just started using buffalo heart in my mix. Its wayyyy cheaper than buying pre cubed foods. I have 2lbs of mix and the heart was only 6 bux. You need to have a variety of foods for your discus or 1 mix with all you need for there nutritional needs. If they wont eat you may have an internal parasite or water conditions are unfavorable for them. Just remember these fish have to have good water quality or you will have more problems than you can imagine. I do 50-70% water changes at the very least every other day in my 180 planted show tank. Discus that small preferably will need a bare bottom tank with multiple feedings daily and water changes daily or you will end up with stunted fish. IMO fry or juvies need to be alone to get the most amount of food they can with out competition from the bigger guys.

The flakes I use are the angel flake, growth flake, and I have been told the meat eaters flake is very good as well. The prime flake on the website for angels plus is almost the same if not identical to prime reef flakes just to let you know and it is a ton cheaper.
