can anyone id this tetra. I have three of them I was using as dithers. I recently put them in my planted community tank and they have been kind of nasty with the fin nipping. They move a lot so it was not easy taking pictures. I want to know what they are. I would also appreciate any info on them too.

Looks like a diamond tetra to me

Moenkhausia pittieri

I used live aquaria for comparison so check the photos there too

^^ i'd have to agree

they do look similiar but they are different fish. My tetras have two big black dots on the lateral line just behind the gills. The diamonds do not have this. Also you can't tell from the photo but the colors are not the same. Mine has more of a gold base.

I think they look like buneous aires tetas. I got a trio of buneous that look just like that!

Yes i think were right. You can tell buy there colors and fins. BTW they grow 4''+.

i think you can manage a better picture if you minus the flash, or took one while they feed. so they will gather in a particular spot.

sorry also not a bueno aires. The buenos do not have the two black dots. I have a couple of pics with no flash but they are way too blurry. I will try again later for some better pictures
