I think the pet store gave me a wrong fish..i bought 6 red eyed tetras and i have been observing their behavior in my tank and they all group together as they are suppose to except one..is it another type of red eye tetra? perhaps a black red eye tetra since the others look albino? All i know is even now this lone tetra is sitting all by itself not joining it companions : (

Also, even if it was a different type of red eye tetra why wouldn't it school with the other? aren't they close enough to being the same?

All your fish are stressed. Did you acclimate them? Turn off the light and give it 48 hours before you can switch it on again.

Yes i accimilated them perfectly and they are much more active after a nights rest- except the one tetra still likes to hang out in the cave most of the time but i think he jsut likes it >.> he came out of the cave and i couldnt tell which one he was so i guess it was only the shadow making him get darker....almost all the tetras are sread out now so i guess its normal for him to like the cave although i did notice his eyes are redder than everyone else..a sickness perhaps?

Hi, Just need to ask, Did you sort out your haeter problem before adding the fish?

As i have found not all schooling fish school,
When i only had a few small fish in my 900 Ltr setup and added 30 neons they just hung out all over the place but later i added 10 rummy nose tets and they schooled together! I think adding a med sized mid swiming fish would have made them stay together as when i introduced them they had no reason to stay together.
Just a view on how it went for me.

Funny, my scissor tail rasboras school with my danios sometimes...

Looks like it's just not found the school. They should be a lot more active than they look, check your water

i put the heater in the water without turning it on about the same time i put the fish bags in and i checked before i put the fish in it was a solid 75 degrees so it was all good but yea maybe its just not a full-time "student" lol
