Hey, I was wondering about the agression levels of N. Tetracanthus. The ones i have seen in person seemed pretty aggro, but i have read here about them being rather skittish. Do you think they would be too skittish to live with something like a loisellei or red texas?

My male grew up in a community tank (CA cichlids) and was able to hold its own and defend a territory. I took it out at 8" and placed it with a female in a 100 g tank for breeding purposes.

mine are in a tank of there own now [breeding pair]
they was in a 120G 5foot with 5 Jags ranging
from 2inches upto 7inches and 3 7inch lemon-
fin barbs, the Cubans had 99% of the tank as
thers, if the other fish came-out from the very
end of the tank at the top they would get chased
back there Quick, that was if the tets had eggs or
not, the tets was/are only small Male around 6inches
and the female only about 4inches.

not sure about the groth of others?
mine I have had for around 2months,
feed them loads, keep there filters
clean, keep-up with water changes,
and they have not grown anythink!
I put a tape measure to them when
I first got them, when I moved them
into a diff tank the other day I also
put a measure to them and they was
the same size as they was at first.

well same as shane said in my experiance cuz i owned those before, they didnt grow much when we had them either...

I had 5 in a 180 gallon tank with carpintis and festae which were larger. they owned the whole tank. I had to put the cubans in a 75, and had to sell off all but a pair cuz they just didnt get along. crazy fish.
growth: mine grew from 1" TO 4.5" IN 6 MONTHS. colors went from a dull jag to sharp black and white at only 2.5". the male that I kept has some red at the dorsal fin tips and his lips. Don't know if its a color variation or what.
they can handle those mentioned fish, but might need to be separated once they get bigger. these are keepers if you have the space and the chance
