I was pretty much set on buying a Tetracanthus at 2'' until earlier today when i saw stuff about them being very fragile at a young age and that they don't do well with other fish until their a bit older.

I was trying to juggle the Tetracanthus or Trimac and now I'm leaning more towards Trimac because I really dont feel like dealing with a wimp.

The tanks mates are a Jag, Escondido, and a femal Festae, All are juvies.

Can the cuban hang with them or should i just give in and go with the Trimac?

if you go with the trimac you should order it online so that way you know it's actually a trimac.

all my fish are instock at TUIC, except for the Festae which Ken has so i everything will be legit.

If you ad any cichlid to an already established cichlid community (hierarchy), it is at a serious disadvantage (even a trimac). Always be ready to place the new guy in a hospital tank. Or, if it ends up on top, the deposed former alpha.

Id do a trimac. They arent the least bit skittish IME and are the first to eat...and will eat everything if the others arent there waiting to eat as well.

Also know that the trimac will more than likely be at the top of the heirarchy if you get one IME, if all the fish are currently the same size.

I think they grow faster and will be bigger than any of the other fish you currently have.

tetracanthus IMO, but then again id pic a tetracanthus over a jag so if u wanna scrap the managuense and go with a tet and a tri-mac then go for it.

personallu ive raised them from 2.5" and ive bred them and i dont think there very fragile at a young age.

Thanks for everyones input. I've decided the Trimac is a safer pick.

personally i wouldnt of said that as tri-mac's are known for being very aggro.
