i have seen tetracycline pills being sold at my lfs and i know they are a common cure for external bacterial diseases in fish. i also am taking 500 mg pills of tetracycline for my acne. could i use it on my fish if they one they get that disease? even if i can't, could someone explain to me how it is used on a fish when in pill form.

no body has ever used tetracycline pills for their fish? im pretty sure the tetracycline im taking for my acne is the same that they sell at the lfs. i just want to know how its supposed to be used as a pill. i'm guessing you just crack it open and let it flow in the wateR? i dunno, straighten out this :newbie:

The tetracyline in pills for people is of a more closely regulated manufacture so is probably better made, however it may not be as water soluble. In addition I do not know the grains per gallon dosage for pure tetracycline. The products made specifically for fish are water soluble and come clearly labelled as to the dosage rate, as an example it is one tablet per 10 gallons for the Mardel version.
