Exactly how rare is this puffer?

A local importer has borught them in and he said they are the RAREST puffers in the world.

i thought tetraodon pustulatus was the rarest puffer?

not sure on this, but get him they are cool looking and dont get too big to require a huge tank. what is the price on him?

Wondering on the price too..Both are pretty rare..Duboisi is probally rarer, as pustulatus had quite a bit of information and duboisi has barely any. :)

It is pretty rare, not many of them floating around.

If it really is a Duboisi, a lot of puffers that are called it and are being labeled as Duboisi right now.

I would pick it up for sure.

post a picture or compare the pictures in the puffer pedia i linked you to and if they are the same fish and wont burn too much of a hole in your pocket go for it. or see if they could hold it for a little bit while you cycle your tank, unless you have a spare tank cycled just waiting for a spur the moment purchase like this. thats an idea i might do :) just have a 40 or so sitting in my room with some little tetras or something waiting for something better for it to come around that catches my eye

Only worth the $$$ if you're some sort of a collector. Exact same behavior as the other, more available, cheaper, lurking species, like the suvattii, palembangensis or miurus.
There are hundreds of puffer species never seen in the aquarium trade. Most commonly searched for is the FW T schoutedeni (Spotted Congo), which hasn't been seen available for >20 years.
