I was just wondering how rare these fish are in the trade, also do they change colors or are there different colors avialable. I want a red one. Also when i googled this i saw 20-30 gal repeated a few times this seems small. Has anyone kept this fish?

not rare but not common some places get them eazy but other like around me have a little trouble getting them
The congo puffer comes in a few different colors the red congo is pretty rare the other colors are what your most likely to find the don't change colors per say but can change the tint and change there pattern a little but can't go from say brown to red or purple or somethin like that
they will get about 6 inches and are pretty in active so can be kept in a 30 gallon these puffers are usually very aggressive and most of the time have to be kept alone

Reds are pretty hard to find & quite expensive. I found mine on Aquabid, about 5 years ago. They do come in different color morphs but will camoflauge to match the colors around them, which is why mine lives in 75% black sand & 25% red gravel.
