TetraTec filters

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
These are WONDERFUL!! I love my TetraTec filter. I have the 150 on a 29 gallon goldfish tank (about to upgrade to the 300 they have at work on clearance for 23 bucks). My only problem is a small problem is that the black tube is unsightly. I prefer a clear tube, but it works wonderfully so I can deal with it. It is fairly quiet, except for a small gurgle that you hear from the water releasing at the end of the cycle. This filter is wonderful and performs better at bio filtration than a BIO-Wheel, IMO.

GET ONE!!!

do they sit down in the water or up high like yours, or do you have yours proped up.

i have mine propped up becuase my hood didn't have that much clearance. that is what i get for buying an economy hood. my whisper filter barely fit and it was a model 20

These are decent filters, but there are better options out there. The AC110 will serve you better than the Tetratec 300. The tetratec filter cartridges are a lot better than the tetra whisper cartridges, but still a waste.

they say the 500 is for a 100g tank how do you get around the stress bars on top of the tank ?

I have both the PF300 and PF500 (with inline heater) on my 75G; which is a bit overkill. They are both great filters. The PF500 is way better than the AC110 that I used in the past. For anyone that wants a HOB filter, I only recommend the PF500.

I got my TetraTec's and AC110 near you at ThatFishPlace.

Glad you've had a good experience with them, but any filter that uses cartridges like that turn me off...

I don't think that any power filter on the market matches the power and versatility of the AC-110...they also lend themselves much more to modding too (bio wheel mod, etc)...

I grew up using Whispers and they have always worked well for me. The Tetratec is an improvement in the filtering of a Whisper. Instead of one cartridge, it uses two with micron filtering, and the living filter chamber has more surface area and better filtering ability than a biowheel (by what the advertisement says). The Tetratec is a step up in technology. I still like a Secondnature WDF better, but the Tetratec gets the job done perfectly.
