tetratec pf 300

Im helping a buddy set up a new tank, he currently has a 55 gallon tank, and just bought a 30 gallon from a garagesale with a tetratecpf300 or possibly 500 im not sure which. he wants to take his current 55 gallon filter and put it on the 30 gallon tank and put the tetratec on his 55 gallon tank because he thinks its a better filter. Is the tetratec adequate filtration for the 55 gallon please respond quickly.

I am sorry I did not see this. I ran a tetratec pf500 on a 58 gal tank with a air curtain. It has worked fine for a year. I think the pf500 would be fine for a 55 gal tank. Just don't over load the tank with fish..
