I know this is not a top-quality filter. My fiancee bought it for me for Christmas. I set this thing up this morning and it is very loud. Is this normal? Does anyone here own one, or have you used to won one? I didn't know if it is this loud during initial setup, or if it is always this loud. If it is always this loud, I am going to exchange it. Thanks in advance.

I had one befor and it always stays loud. its not going to get any better either. exchange it if you can.
just had a thought, if they wont take it back or exchange, and if you still want it to quite down. you can remove the clear plastic cup that goes over the siphon. this will stop the wet/dry feature, but it stops the annoying sound it makes. and the turnover rate is not affected.
