TetraTec Powerfilters, any reviews?

My LFS guy who is pretty reliable on these matters told me they are excelent heaters and average filters. Meaning it does what it claims but an AC 110 or penguin emporer is a mutch better filter. If you do end up getting one let me know how it works.

Beware of how big they are. They are a good bit "deeper" (from tank to wall) than most other h.o.b's so your tank will have to be farther away from the wall. I bought one when i first got into the hobby but returned it because of this and because it was noisy. It has two returns. One is constant and one is supposed to simulate a current by turning on and off but mine was very noisy. It sounded like someone trying to suck the last drop out of their cup with a straw every 30-40 seconds. Again i did not have this filter for long and i was very new to the hobby so i may not be the best reference for this but that is my experience with it. I now have 2 penguin 350's and they work great and am in the process of building a wet dry.

You can disable this by removing the cap and raiser. Then it's just two ordinary returns.

Once I did this the only noticable noise was from the cover doing a slight buzz.

Not worth the money. Don't bother. Get an AC110 or a canister.
agreed. My little brother bought one. It makes a mess and is too big/awkward for anything smaller than a 125 gallon. Its perform par to an ac110.
