Hello,
i'm keeping a Channa gachua (20cm) together with several bichirs - also with a big Teugelsi (50cm) ...
The Gachua and the Teugelsi are together the most time ... swimming together, chilling together and eating together!
Normally the Teugelsi is a bit aggressive against other fish - except the Gachua, who can swim in front of his mouth without been bitten anytime.
There are many threads about keeping together bichirs with other fish, especially with cichlids. Cichlids & Bichirs do not work as one can see in several threads about the theme ... remembering the senegalus without eyes? Those stressed bichirs ...
In another tank i'm keeping Channa pulchra with several bichirs been smaller than in the other tank. It also works well and it seems to be the beginning of a wonderful friendship between Pulchra & Ornatipinnis. They are spending more and more time together in the same way Gachua & Teugelsi are doing ...
The only stress factor is? ... Yes, a left-over cichlid! This Sajica is the only survivor from a party that had my bigger ornate - he ate dozens of cichlids (most of them were Jack Dempseys up to 15cm lenght).
The Sajica is too smart to be catched without doing out everything out of the tank - driftwood, plants and ... water. So some day Pulchra, Weeksi or Ornatipinnis will rule ...
Greetings
Uwe
